Today, July 29 at 12:00 pm, the Board of Trustees supported my recommendation to delay the start of school and to begin with a 100 % virtual start. When I made the initial announcement about our district’s instructional delivery method, I informed you that the decision was based on the results of ourparent survey that was administered to our families. This past week, there were two articles that werereleased that outlined our growing number of COVID-19 cases in Mississippi, and in Jackson County specifically. One article from The Sun Herald outlined the continued increase, while the other was from the Mississippi Department of Pediatric Medicine, which recommended mandatory masks for everyoneand a delayed start to school.
It is with much research, review, discussion, consideration and planning with principals, teachers, andfamilies that I share with you our delay of school outline. The below are the expectations of the start of school for the 2020-2021 school year:

This decision is based on the increased numbers of cases in our area, recommendations from the research, and the fact that 40% of our day is spent with our Tiger Family. This fact, I do not take lightly. Our Tiger family’s health and safety are our top priority while providing a quality education to our students. If you have immediate questions comments or concerns, please email email@example.com. Please know that we are in this together and I am confident that we are #strongertogether! We look forward to seeing our scholars virtually on Monday, August 17, 2020.
